I can tell you that Andrew is the type of person who cares that his "work" has purpose. Personally, I live by the philosophy that I want my presence or interactions with people to contribute to their self-awareness and achievement of their potential. Healthy relationships contribute ALOT towards those things.
As far as online dating, yes, it does work. My best friend met his wife online, and one of my sisters met her husband through online dating too (they now have a one-year-old son).
Back in the day I went on several dates with people I met thru online dating. No bad experiences to report at all. In person, there simply was no chemistry. But of the say 6 or 7 guys I met, they all were nice.
